Service agreement
Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 1 October 2026
These terms explain how PY Tech handles bookings, collection, diagnosis, quotes, repairs, payments and return delivery. By booking a service or approving a quote, you agree to the terms that apply to that job.
Drafting note: These are general service terms prepared for customer clarity, not legal advice. PY Tech should have a New Zealand lawyer review them before relying on them as final legal terms, especially the warranty, payment and uncollected-goods provisions.
1. Scope and key terms
These terms apply to consumer and business repair services supplied by PY Tech, including online bookings, pickup and delivery, diagnosis, hardware and software work, custom PC work, progress updates and related support.
A quote is the proposed scope and price sent for your approval. A job is the service request identified by its unique service-request number. Device includes any phone, tablet, laptop, desktop PC, console, accessory or storage media handed to us.
3. Booking, collection and custody
A requested pickup time is not confirmed until we accept it and send a collection window. Free scheduled pickup and return is available for eligible repair bookings in the areas shown on our quote information page. Route availability, safe access and device type may affect the offered slot.
An adult must be available at the confirmed address. At handover, we may record the device, serial number, accessories and visible condition. Custody begins when our authorised collector records receipt and ends when the device is handed back to you or your authorised recipient.
We will take reasonable care of the device while it is in our custody. We may refuse collection where access is unsafe, the device presents a safety risk, or the item does not match the booking. Please remove unrelated accessories, SIM cards and removable media unless they are needed to reproduce the fault.
4. Assessment, quotes and approval
Online triage is not a final diagnosis. A hands-on assessment may be required and any assessment charge will be disclosed before it is incurred. After inspection, we will send the proposed work, parts, price and relevant limitations.
We do not begin chargeable repair work until you approve the quote through the customer portal or another recorded method. Quotes normally remain open for 14 days unless a different expiry is shown. Supplier pricing and availability may need to be reconfirmed after expiry.
If we discover an additional fault or need to change the approved scope or price, we will pause the job and request approval of a revised quote. You may decline the variation. You remain responsible only for work, parts and disclosed charges you have already approved, subject to your rights under New Zealand law.
5. Progress updates, photos and notifications
We may photograph the exterior, serial label, visible damage, internal condition, parts and completed work to document custody, support diagnosis and show repair progress. These operational images may be displayed on your secure tracking page. We will not use identifiable job images for advertising without separate permission.
Service messages may be sent by email, SMS, phone or another channel you choose. Status updates are intended to be timely but are not a guarantee of minute-by-minute reporting. You are responsible for keeping your contact details current and your tracking link private.
6. Parts and special orders
Parts are not included unless the quote says they are. The quote will identify the proposed part type where relevant, such as genuine, original-equipment, refurbished or compatible. Availability, colour and supplier lead times can change.
We may require payment or a deposit before ordering a special-order part. Before you approve, we will disclose any supplier restocking restriction or reasonable non-recoverable cost that could apply if you later cancel. Removed parts are recycled unless you ask for them back before the repair begins and it is safe and lawful to do so.
Customer-supplied parts are fitted only by agreement. We are responsible for our workmanship but cannot promise the quality, compatibility or durability of a part we did not supply. This does not limit any rights you may have against its seller.
7. Data, software and device access
Back up important data before collection whenever reasonably possible. Testing, storage faults, malware removal, operating-system work and existing hardware failure can involve data risk. We will use reasonable care, but a repair is not a data-backup service unless data backup or recovery is included in the approved quote.
If access is needed, provide a temporary code through the method we arrange, not in a public form or repair description. We will access only what is reasonably necessary to diagnose, repair and test the device. Remove or sign out of financial, medical and other highly sensitive apps where practical.
Software installation requires a valid licence. We do not install pirated software, bypass activation locks or defeat security controls. Data recovery is best-efforts and no particular file or recovery percentage is guaranteed unless expressly agreed.
8. Price and payment options
Prices are in New Zealand dollars. The approved quote and any approved variations form the job price. We do not state that tax is included or excluded unless the quote or invoice expressly says so.
Available payment choices are shown with the quote. Online payments are handled by the payment provider shown at checkout. If pay after repair is offered and selected, the approved balance is due at or before return of the device; it is not an instalment or consumer-credit arrangement. We may require parts or special orders to be paid in advance.
Where permitted by law, we may retain the device until undisputed, due charges are paid. Any refund will be handled according to the approved scope, the payment provider's process and your applicable consumer-law rights.
9. Cancellations and missed appointments
You can cancel before approving a quote without a repair-labour charge. A disclosed assessment charge, approved work already completed, or a non-recoverable special-order cost may still be payable. We will explain any amount before arranging return.
If nobody is available at a confirmed pickup or return window, we will arrange another time. Any fee for an extra journey must be disclosed and agreed before it is charged. We may cancel a booking after repeated missed appointments or if we cannot safely or lawfully perform the requested service.
10. Turnaround times and events outside control
Collection, diagnosis and completion dates are estimates unless we expressly agree a fixed deadline. Timing may be affected by fault complexity, parts availability, supplier delays, customer approval or events reasonably outside our control. We will communicate material delays and complete the service within the agreed or otherwise reasonable time required by law.
11. Repair warranty and return issues
Unless your quote or invoice states a longer period, our repair workmanship is covered for 90 days from return of the device. Tell us promptly if the same issue reappears and allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect it. A supplied part may also carry a stated supplier or manufacturer warranty.
The workmanship warranty does not cover a different or unrelated fault, later impact or liquid damage, misuse, unauthorised modification, malware reinfection, normal wear, consumables, or failure of a customer-supplied part. These exclusions do not reduce any remedy you are entitled to under the Consumer Guarantees Act or other applicable law.
12. Uncollected devices
Please arrange payment and return promptly after we notify you that the device is ready. We will make reasonable attempts using the contact details on the job. After repeated attempts and at least 90 days, we may begin a lawful uncollected-goods process. This may include reasonable storage costs disclosed by notice and disposal or sale only where permitted by law and after any required notices and waiting periods.
If contact details change, tell us as soon as possible. We will not treat silence alone as permission to use, keep or dispose of your personal data.
13. New Zealand consumer rights
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, Fair Trading Act 1986 and Privacy Act 2020. Consumer services must be provided with reasonable care and skill, be fit for an agreed purpose, and be completed within a reasonable time where no time is agreed.
If you acquire services in trade, any lawful contracting-out arrangement must be separately agreed in writing and be fair and reasonable; these website terms do not automatically contract out of consumer law.

14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how booking details, addresses, device identifiers, photos, updates, quote decisions and payment references are handled. It forms part of these terms.
15. Questions, complaints and changes
Please contact us first if you have a concern so we can investigate and try to put it right. Email [email protected] or call +64 21 866 189. You may also have access to the Disputes Tribunal, Privacy Commissioner or another statutory complaint process.
We may update these terms for future bookings. The version accepted for an existing job continues to apply unless a change is required by law or we both agree otherwise. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any dispute may be heard by a New Zealand court or tribunal with jurisdiction, without limiting a consumer's statutory rights.
